About Us

After discussion with both patients and professionals a small group began in 1981 with a gentle emphasis on helping each other to realise that one’s approach to breast cancer does help maintain health. If one eats properly, rests and relaxes and gets on with daily life, we find that we are in control, not our disease. Now after over 20 years many ladies and their families have been involved with us.
We are a friendly and informal group who welcome people at any point in their journey through breast cancer. We share our cancer experiences, although you don’t even have to talk, if you don’t want to, but just come along and listen, We offer caring and emotional support to each other and there is always a nurse present to listen and offer help where possible and counselling if necessary. Everything that is shared between us is confidential Two of our members open their homes for the meetings, which are held each month alternately in Hastings and Bexhill allowing access for all in our area.
We try to arrange various social events for our members, a trip to the Brighton Ice Show and a fashion show each October are two of our annual events. We also have demonstrations and talks from beauticians, complementary therapists etc which have been great fun as well as morale boosters.
We also laugh a lot.
But most of all it is the support we are able to give each other knowing that we share similar fears, worries and problems that is of the greatest help and comfort.
